San Diego Veteran Cremation

Funerals Your Way has Two Veteran Cremation Packages. They are designed to fit most San Diego families’ needs, but cremation service packages may be customized.  At Funerals Your Way, we recognize veterans’ courage and sacrifice for their country. Their final farewell should reflect their service with the utmost dignity and respect.  These packages include everything you need to attend to the physical remains of your loved one.  Each cremation package includes professional funeral fees, transfer, and storage of the deceased, disposition permit, urn, and interment service at Miramar National Cemetery. We will, of course, organize all military honors presentations.

The death certificates are generally available in a few days and loved one’s cremains are generally back in our office in a week or so for the family.

Additional cremation and transport costs may apply for individuals in excess of 300 pounds or more difficult removals. Residential removals incur an addition charge because an addition staff person is required. Sales tax on merchandise, holidays and weekends additional.

Planning any funeral is difficult, as the myriad details is often overwhelming. Planning veteran funerals is even more complex. We have some information on veteran funerals on another page.

Veteran Cremation Benefits

Funerals come with significant expenses, but fortunately, the military assists families in covering these costs. Families need to apply for compensation from the military, and it typically takes a few months for the funds to get back to the family.

The amount of assistance provided by the military for a veteran’s cremation varies, and the Veterans Administration determines the amount on an individual case. For additional information see our articles on Veteran Funeral Allowances.

Veteran Benefits at a National Cemetery

Financial compensation is not the only benefit available or the most financially attractive. Interment in a veteran cemetery is a huge benefit for a veteran and can save the family thousands of dollars. With cremation, there is still the option for either interment in the wall or the ground; it is the veteran’s family’s choice.

Interment in any national cemetery is free, as well as honors and a short service at the committal shelters at the cemetery.
